Our Services
Pes Podiatry manages and treats a large variety of foot, ankle and leg conditions, some more common than others.
-
Comprehensive management of elongated nails and callouses involves an approach aimed at ensuring both aesthetic and therapeutic outcomes. Our specialized care encompasses the delicate removal of hardened callouses and corns to enhance overall foot health. We understand the potential for increased pain if these concerns are left untreated, underscoring the importance of our thorough and attentive procedures.
-
Ankle pain can stem from multiple sources including tendon overload and joint irritation. Our tailored solutions include targeted physical therapy interventions and strategic offloading techniques, featuring options such as customized foot orthosis or braces. This comprehensive strategy ensures not only relief from immediate discomfort but also addresses the root causes, promoting optimal recovery and sustained well-being.
-
Children feet are different to adult feet and thus ensuring feet are growing according to there normal milestones is imperative. Podiatry is trained to deal with the following possible issues:
Paediatric flat foot
Growing pains
Curly toes
Ingrowing toe nails
-
Foot orthotics are a foot brace designed to offload painful areas of the foot and ankle. Orthotics work by distributing plantar pressures from one part of the foot to another. Orthotics are also designed to shift the axis of your foot thus taking away strain from painful structures.
Orthotics can be off the shelf or customised depending on what is best for you and level of injury.
-
Ingrown toe nails are a painful condition whereby a nail is often pushing through or irritating the soft and sensitive flesh of the toe.
Ingrowing toe nails can happen due to poor nail cutting technique and/or narrow footwear.
Ingrown toe nails can be managed through conservative removal and footwear changes.
If indicated a permanent removal of the nail is also an option if more conservative measures do not work.
-
A fungal nail infection, also known as onychomycosis, is a common condition that affects the nails, typically the toenails. It is caused by an overgrowth of fungi in or under the nails. Fungal nail infections can be persistent and challenging to treat, but there are several options available including debridement of the affected nail, oral medication and topical medication.
-
Plantar fasciitis is a common foot condition characterized by thickening of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that connects the heel bone to the toes. It often causes heel pain, particularly during the first steps in the morning or after prolonged periods of rest. Common causes include overuse, improper footwear, and biomechanical issues. Treatment typically involves strengthening, stretching, orthotic devices, and sometimes medical interventions such as corticosteroid injections or surgrey.
-
Plantar warts are skin lesions that grow on the soles of the foot caused by the HPV virus.
Plantar warts present similarly to corns and callouses however require a different treatment due to the presence of nerve and arterial ending present within the wart.
Treatments include:
1. Debridement of the wart with application of topical ingredients to help stimulate a immune reaction.
2. Needling: Puncturing of the wart with a fine needle to induce injury and stimulate an immune response to help clear out the wart.
Your podiatrist will also chat with you to ensure that your overall health and immune system is also functioning well thus collaboration with a general practitioner can also be indicated.
